The signed and numbered mosaic belt buckles are individually handcrafted by Randi from vintage license plates found in dusty attics, barns and auctions, using a multi-step process that involves cutting, shaping, hammering, filing, welding, cementing, beveling, waxing and polishing. Randi notes, “Each of my metal mosaic belt buckles is a one of a kind, just like the people who wear them.”

Saturday July 21, 2018 an extraordinary event will be held in Mexico City in the private residence of Alejandra Matiz, daughter of the Colombian photographer Leo Matiz and president of the Leo Matiz Foundation, a dinner in honor of the Italian artist Emanuele Viscuso, in celebration of the rebirth of the Leo Matiz Gallery. Besides being a celebrated photographer, Leo Matiz opened an art gallery in Bogota in 1952 and the first artist presented there was Fernando Botero, showing his art for the very first time. From Alejandra: “In that magic place I was a little girl whose first toys were art pieces. One day my brother and I were almost destroying a Botero painting and I can’t tell how furious was my father…”.
Italian sculptor, designer, musician, architect, and personal friend and collaborator of Leo Matiz, Emanuele Viscuso will be the first artist showing at the Leo Matiz Gallery in Mexico City. With such an immensely diverse creative background, and with his past collaboration with Leo Matiz, he is the perfect choice of artist for such a rebirth. Among the invitees to the event of Saturday, the Italian Ambassador in Mexico, H.E. Luigi Maccotta.
Luigi Maccotta, ambasciatore italiano in Messico.
